UnduhFedrigoni receives the Gold Medal from EcoVadis for its commitment to sustainability and launches the FedLab innovation incubator, with the aim of developing advanced eco-friendly paper solutions for plastic replacement
The Group, leader in the production of specialty papers and self-adhesive materials, has opened an innovation hub within its Paper division to develop paper products that are an efficient alternative to plastics, thanks to their characteristics of strength and water repellency. These solutions will be used by the cosmetics and food industries, by luxury e-commerce players and in many more applications. The first innovations will be showcased at the Luxe Pack trade fair in Munich and at the Packaging Première exhibition in Milan.
Sustainable luxury packaging: Fedrigoni acquires 70% of a NewCo that will produce thermoformed cellulose inner solutions
The agreement is with Tecnoform, a company in Colorno (Parma) that specialises in thermoformed elements for packaging. With this sixth acquisition in less than three years, Fedrigoni, a global leader in specialty papers and self-adhesive materials, strengthens its strategy of converting packaging products from plastic to paper, one of the cornerstones of the Group’s sustainability objectives for 2030.
Winners of the Fedrigoni Top Award 2021
Awards were given to the best international designs made with Fedrigoni, Fabriano and Manter self-adhesive papers and materials by designers, publishers, brands and printers at the ADI Design Museum in Milan. The 50 most interesting designs have been on display for two days at the museum, and can also be viewed via a virtual tour on the website. The engaging digital experience also gives access to unpublished content and allows visitors to listen to debates between international experts, who animated the award ceremony, discussing the hot graphics and design topics.
Fedrigoni Consolidated Financial Statements and Sustainability Report submitted
The Fedrigoni Group ended 2020 with a turnover of €1,315 million (+€200 million), €197 million in Pro Forma Adjusted Ebitda confirming the 2021 first quarter growth trend. The next targets are the ESG 2030 goals: -30% CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, -67% injuries at work, zero industrial waste to landfill, and +50% women in managerial positions.
Self-adhesive materials: Fedrigoni strengthens its presence in the USA with the acquisition of Acucote, an American company
The Italian group continues its growth strategy in the promising premium self-adhesive products sector, strengthening its position as one of the global market leaders. It can now count on a new plant and a stronger commercial presence in North America (where it was already present with own operations in California and the distributor GPA), together with the Mexican company, Industria Papelera Venus, acquired in December.
Agreement between Fedrigoni and Portals: Portals, a UK headquartered global specialist in banknote and security paper production will acquire Fedrigoni’s Security business based in Bollate, Italy
Fedrigoni, one of the leading European producers of specialty papers and self-adhesive materials, entered into a transaction for the potential sale of its security business based in Bollate (Italy), specialised in the production of security features, along with its assets and employees, to Portals, a global specialist in banknote and security paper production. Closing of the Bollate transaction is subject to customary conditions precedent. As a separate transaction, Portals is also acquiring an option to potentially purchase certain banknote paper and passport paper assets (including production machinery) from the Fabriano (Italy) security division of Fedrigoni. Fedrigoni CEO Marco Nespolo stated: “Portals is an established, growing player: our people are in good hands”. Portals CEO Ross Holliday commented: “The acquisition of Fedrigoni’s security thread and foil business will mark a major step forward in Portals’ strategy to bring improved innovation and value to our customers for banknote, passport and security papers.”

Fedrigoni, one of the leading producers of special papers and self-adhesive labels, is funding the creation of a park next to its Ritrama plant. CEO Marco Nespolo explained, “Improving a green public area near our production site is an integral part of our commitment towards the community and the environment, a commitment that started 132 years ago, and which will gather momentum in manufacturing processes, supply chains, product innovation and focus on people over the next 5 years.”
