Over two afternoons (20 and 22 September) the student-focused event will host keynote talks by designers Yah-Leng Yu and Astrid Stavro. Yu founded Foreign Policy Design Group in Singapore, while Stavro, who has recently joined COLLINS as creative director, has experience of working in London, Barcelona and Majorca, and a rich portfolio of work for cultural institutions, including Elephant magazine and Barcelona Design Museum, as well as brands such as Vitra and AB InBev.

The day will also feature a group presentation from all nine active AGI Italy members, including Francesco Franchi, La Tigre (see Pulp 08), Leonardo Sonnoli (see Pulp 10) and Studio Mut (see Pulp 12), the organisers of this year’s event.

The Open’s second day presents ‘Design Forum: Relevance and Longevity’, featuring Liza Enebeis (Studio Dumbar), Tereza Ruller (The Rodina) and Paula Scher (Pentagram New York), moderated by Lucille Tenazas. The session will aim to examine what educators can do to remain relevant within a discipline and practice that is constantly evolving.
